I'M So LoST...

Hmmm. Esok (Isnin), kiteorg ada 2 exam MCQ. Medicine & Surgery. Hari Khamis pulak, aku ada long case which is a bit like practical exam laa. Menurut kata senior2 aku, exam MCQ tu mmg susah gile. Ape yg kite baca drp buku2 pun bukannye cukup. Huhuuhu. Pasrah je aku dgn kata2 dieorg tu. Tapi aku rasa mmg betul pun. Tapi, apa yg paling menakutkan aku adalah long case tu. I'm afraid of being asked questions that I would know the answers but bcoz of being nervous, I might be blank. It happens to me a lot. Sh*t.. I really need to control my nerves. But sometimes, I just don't know how. Huhuhu.

Skarang ni aku rase mcm dah penat dah membaca buku2 Medic. Nak termuntah pun ade. Baca2 pun, bukannye boleh ingat semua. Esoknye, lupe semule ttg apa yg dah dibaca. Is this normal? Huhuhuh. I'm soooo lost right now. I've never felt this lost in my entire life. Could someone pls be my saviour!!! Well, I guess I need to be more motivated & in order to be motivated, I desperately need to have one good idol to influence me to be an excellent medical student. I've been searching all over for this idol, but still no one has shown up. Are we lack of good medical students these days? Or I'm not searching thoroughly? Or should I just hope for some miracles to happen?? Ntah la..

So, skarang ni aku hanya tawakal je. May Allah show me His guide to the right path to success & peace that I've been looking for all this time. Amin.. Dan semoga aku & member2 batch aku semue dpt menempuhi exam yg bakal menjelma ni dgn cemerlang. InsyaAllah. Moga doa2 aku & doa2 mak & abah termakbul la hendaknye. HiSToRY oF iSLaMiC CiViLiSaTioN iN euRoPe

Most of us know how Islam was really flourishing in Europe for 700 years (8-15th century), particularly in the Southern part of Spain or better known as the region of Andalusia during the period of Medieval Time or Middle Ages or also known as the Dark Ages according to the Europeans. Cities like Cordoba, Granada, Seville & Toledo were the modernest cities in the whole Europe at that time. In Cordoba, the capital city of Islamic Empire in Spain, people live in proper houses made of bricks & there were even lamp posts on the roads while people in other part of Europe were still living in wooden houses, suffering from the feudalism system & tension from the Church. Religion, knowledge & culture were the top priorities of the Muslim people back in those years. Names like Ibnu Rusyd, Ibnu Sina and many more were so famous because of their knowledge & contributions.

Nevertheless, this great empire was soon getting weaker & weaker from days to days. This was seen as a great opportunity for Christian kingdoms of Northern Spain to reconquer the land of Spain from the Muslims. Their mission was called 'Reconquista' which means Reconquest in English. From time to time, one by one Muslim cities like Cordoba, Seville, Toledo & many more fell into their hands. In the year of 1492, Granada, the last Muslim's stronghold in Spain also eventually fell into the hands of Ferdinand II of Aragon & his queen, Isabella of Castille. This means Christian kingdoms of Northern Spain have officially succeeded with their mission to reconquer the land of Spain for the Christian people from the Muslims. And they eventually forced all Muslims & Jews who lived in Spain to convert to Christianity. This order was called as 'Inquisición' or Inquisition in English. It was established to maintain Catholic orthodoxy in their kingdoms & also as an act of cleanliness of blood in Spain. Those who didn't want to convert were expelled from Spain & have their assets seized. Some were even killed. It was indeed a very ruthless action.

This is just a short story from the history of Islam in Spain. To those who are interested to know more about it, I'd like to recommend you guys to watch these documentaries. It is important to know that without Islamic civilisation in Spain back in the Middle Ages, there won't be Renaissance & there won't even be a modern & civilised Europe that we see these days. All knowledge that they have today are all sourcing from the Islamic Spain during the Middle Ages. Nevertheless, some still don't want to admit this. So, enjoy watching these documentaries:

LoReNZo'S oiL

Filem Lorenzo's Oil yg ditayangkan pd thn 1992 ni dibintangi oleh Nick Nolte & Susan Sarandon. This film is based on true story that occured in middle 80's. Filem ni menceritakan ttg sepasang suami isteri, Augusto Odone (Nick Nolte) & Michaela Odone (Susan Sarandon) bersama2 dgn anak lelaki dieorg, Lorenzo Odone berhijrah ke United States selepas beberapa thn tinggal di Comoros, sebuah negara pulau yg terletak di Lautan Hindi, di timur benua Afrika. Anak lelaki dieorg tu berusia 5 thn.

Beberape bln selepas dieorg berhijrah, tibe2 si Lorenzo ni mengalami beberape symptoms yg pelik. Mule2, doctor2 yg dieorg jumpe tak dpt nak mendiagnose penyakit ape yg die hidapi. Tapi, setelah beberape kajian dibuat, akhirnya dieorg dpt mengenal pasti ttg penyakit yg Lorenzo hidapi. Dia menghidapi penyakit adrenoleukodystrophy, a sex-linked disease that just occurs among male which is a bit rare back in 80's. So, doctor2 semue tak dpt berbuat apa2 sbb kajian ttg penyakit ni was still on going & they was no cure found yet at that time. Adrenoleukodystrophy is a fatal disease and can cause death in a few months.

Pasangan Augusto & Michaela ni tak sanggup tgk anak dieorg menderita. So, dieorg berusaha sedaya upaya utk memahami ttg penyakit adrenoleukodystrophy ni & cuba mencari apa2 alternative utk merawatnya tanpa bantuan mana2 doctor. Dieorg membaca semua buku yg berkaitan dgn penyakit tu tanpa henti. Akhirnya, dieorg berjaya menjumpai cara utk merawat dgn menggunakan extract from olive oil. Penemuan dieorg ini sgt besar sumbangannye terhadap dunia perubatan. Sampai skarang, extract from olive oil ni, atau lebih dikenali sbg 'Lorenzo's Oil' masih lagi digunakan utk merawat kanak2 yg menghidapi adrenoleukodystrophy. Utk menghargai sumbangan dieorg, Augusto telah dianugerahkan ijazah perubatan & dia adalah pengasas kpd The Myelin Project yg masih lagi dijalankan sampai sekarang. Michaela Odone meninggal dunia beberape thn lepas kerana lung cancer. Kini, Augusto tinggal bersama2 dgn anaknya Lorenzo yg masih lagi hidup, but he is bedridden.

So, from this film, we can see that even common people like Augusto & Michaela can give a big contribution to the world of medicine. So, never underestimate other people's potential. We can do anything if we have the gut to do it. Nothing is impossible. Kalau nak seribu daya, kalau taknak seribu dalih. And the biggest human value that we can learn from this film is how a mother or a father would do anything in the whole world for her/his children, like Lorenzo's parents. They read every book about the disease, they spent thousands of dollars to find the cure, they went to lots of places to look for clues, they met hundreds of people to seek for advices. All those are just for the sake of their child, Lorenzo. So, there is nothing that can be compared to the love of a mother or a father for her/his children. Sbb tu la filem ni tersangat2 menyentuh hati aku. To Abah & Mak, I love you two sooo much. I can't imagine a life without you two...

CoNCePT oF SeNioR & JuNioR

Tibe2 aku tergerak hati utk menulis sikit ttg isu senior & junior ni. Bagi sesape yg pernah bersekolah kat sekolah berasrama penuh (Form 1-5), mungkin korang dah biasa dgn konsep senior & junior ni. Same la jugak dgn diriku ini. Aku dah tersangat biasa dah dgn isu ni. Kalau kite imbas semule zaman2 persekolahan dulu, mmg selalunye la junior2 dibuli sakan oleh senior2, termasuklah diri ini jugak. Huhuh. Maybe bagi sesetengah org tu adalah perkara normal. Tapi bagi aku, aku 100% tak setuju dgn bab buli-membuli junior ni. Sememangnye takde faedah langsung. Kalau sape2 yg tahu ape faedah di sebalik buli-membuli ni, tlg segera inform kat aku, ok. Tapi seriously aku rase buli-membuli bebudak junior ni mmg takde memberi ape2 kesan baik. Sepatutnye konsep senior & junior ni boleh je diserapkan dgn unsur2 moral yg baik. Yg senior tlg si junior kalau dieorg ade ape2 masalah. Yg junior pulak mintak nasihat atau pertolongan dari senior kalau ade ape2 masalah. Dan yg penting, kite saling hormat-menghormati antara satu sama lain, tanpa mengira beza umur. Tu yg penting sekali.

Tapi beberape peristiwa yg berlaku dlm hidup aku baru2 ni benar2 membuat aku tak puas hati. Ada antara kite ni kadang2 terbawa2 konsep senior-junior yg kite alami sewaktu sekolah dulu ke alam university, lebih2 lagi bile kite duduk serumah dgn mereka yg lebih muda dari kita. Kite kadangkala tak sedar yg sifat ego kite sbg seorg senior benar2 buat kite lupe diri & memakan diri kite sendiri. Kite anggap bebudak junior yg tinggal serumah sbg bebudak hingusan yg patut diajar dgn kekerasan & tak patut diberi muka supaya dieorg hormat dgn kite. Tapi bagi aku, sifat ego sbg seorg senior tak patut ade dlm sesebuah rumah. Come on laa. Grow up! Home is the place where you live with your loved ones. It's not an asrama like where you used to live once upon your lifetime dulu, where the seniors bullying the juniors. Semue org dlm sesebuah rumah tu adalah ibarat adik-beradik. So, kite patut membuang ego kite sbg seorg senior & menyamaratakan diri masing2 serta bergaul antara satu sama lain tanpa memikirkan pasal jarak umur masing2. Everyone is equal.

OK. Kadang2 kite rase yg junior2 ni perlu hormat akan senior2 dieorg. Tu mmg betul. Aku tak nafikan. Tapi, kalau nak buat org hormat akan kite, kekerasan & memaki hamun bukanlah caranya. You won't get respect from others by downgrading them, but you will get respect from others by respecting them. Respect is what we obtained, not what we ask for. People in a real world don't respect you because of your age. In fact, they don't really care how old you are. They respect you for your knowledge, for your behavior & for your contributions. So, live in reality. Don't live in your own fantasy. And one more thing, every human being wants to be treated equally & to be respected. Kite sbg manusia, tak ade hak nak membeza2kan antara satu sama lain. Hanya Allah SWT saje yg ada hak membeza2kan makhluk2-Nya berdasarkan ilmu & amalan masing2.

So, kpd mereka yg faham akan apa yg aku cuba sampaikan ni, cubalah ubah diri kite agar kite dpt hidup dlm suasana rumah yg harmoni. Kpd sape2 yg terasa atau tak puas hati dgn post aku ni, aku mintak maaf la ye. I just wanna express my thoughts. This is my blog. So, I can write whatever I want, I can write whatever I like.
